YOGASMOGA: Anniversary Promotion

The 1 Year Anniversary Promotion that Yogasmoga has been teasing about is here!

If you are new to Yogasmoga and you open an account, you automatically get $25 off your first order. That's pretty decent. Shipping to Canada and the US are free as well!  Also nice!  If you are a current Smogi, such as myself, you get $25 Smogi Bucks when you refer a friend and they make a purchase.  This isn't really any difference for current Smogis as this has always been available to us.  Unfortunately, unless someone that I referred buys something, I won't be feeling any Smogi love this time around.   I am waiting to see what new product they may come out with this year!

For all of you who haven't tried Yogasmoga yet, it is very functional, high quality fitwear!  Fits like a glove and washes like a dream!  No pilling and the color stays vibrant after many many washes!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

YOGASMOGA Classic Slimmie Pants Review

Attention Ladies who love to wear black yoga pants everywhere:  Yogasmoga Classic Slimmie Pants are what you have been looking for!  (Here is the link: http://yogasmoga.com/women/classic-slimmie-pant-3446)

Classic Slimmie Pant $109

Classic Slimmie Pant

$109
This REVERSIBLE Slimmie pant is some serious double trouble. So super slimming, you’ll want to put it on just to admire your tight tush. The clean, slimming contour is flattering and sexy. Feel fierce both at the gym and at brunch.

Our Slimmie Pant Tall is ideal for women over 5' 9'' in height.

These pants come in a range of colors and sizes from 2-12 both Regular and Tall lengths!!

OMG!  I ordered these recently and they shipped very quickly!  They are the most comfortable yoga pants I have ever owned - and I own, I dare say, a few pairs!  I ordered these pants in Black Carbon 6 which is the blackest of black pants I have ever seen!  I wash them with other yoga wear (no fabric softener) and hang them to dry.  No pilling after washing.  I don't expect them to pill if they are anything like the first pair of Yogasmoga crops that I have had since the company opened in early 2013 that have been washed/worn many times and have yet to look different than they did when I took them out of the package!

I'm 5"5 and wear size 6 in Yogasmoga gear.  I ordered Regular size 6 and they fit true to size and the length is perfect!  Long enough that they are brushing the bottom of my sneaker but not dragging on the floor.  They also come in tall for you leggy gals!

Here's what the website has to say about Aurum; material exclusive to Yogasmoga:

DISCOVER AURUM™

This is IT. AURUM™, Exclusively Ours.
AURUM™ is a technical blend of Supplex® and Lycra®. Our competitors use a form of Nylon that is inferior and falls apart quickly. Supplex® fibers are technically far superior, giving you the soft feel and breathability of cotton with the performance benefits of advanced fiber technology.
Above info from Yogasmoga website:  http://yogasmoga.com/our-edge)

I can not say enough about how incredibly soft and flexible this material is!  It holds its shape while making you legs and butt look fabulous!  The wide waistband is a medium rise - not too high, not too low and NO MUFFIN TOP! :-) Yay!

I can not say enough about the high quality of Yogasmoga product that I have bought so far.  The fit is fantastic, the fabric is lovely (especially after you wash it, it just gets softer!) and it keeps its shape like nothing else.  The price of these pants is rather high, however, every time you purchase a pair, you receive 5 Smogi Bucks that you can save and use later towards another purchase!  I look at these as an investment piece that will last a long time in my yoga/lounging wardrobe!

Enjoy all of the Smogi Love and visit their website today:  http://yogasmoga.com/

Shipping to Canada

There are so many different athletic wear companies out there!  Sooo sooo many!  I've ordered from both Canada and the US from numerous companies.  I find myself at a loss currently. There are a number of companies that I would love to purchase from but when I get all of my purchases to checkout there is no option for shipping to a Canadian address.  Sucks, eh?

Lucy Activewear has some beautiful stuff!  (http://www.lucy.com)( I found a number of pairs of crops that I really wanted to try out but I can not seem to find a way to get them shipped to me! This weekend they have a sale on; take an extra 30% off all sale items and I am so frustrated because there are some great buys on there that I can not get to!  Any readers in the US, check it out for sure!  I've sent an email to their Contact Us address at the bottom of their page but have not heard back yet.  Has anyone else in Canada been able to order from them?  I've seen some yoga instructors I've had classes with wearing them, but I am sure they purchased them in the US.

A new company that I heard of recently while I was at home sick and watching day time TV is Fabletics. (http://www.fabletics.com)   This is a company that was recently launched by Kate Hudson.  Hudson has been quotes as saying that the clothes are "high-quality, affordable athletic wear that was also hip. Clothes that women would love wearing all day."  (http://www.dailyglow.com/kate-hudson-launches-new-workout-wear-line-1009.html)

When you first go to the website, you have the opportunity to get 50% off your first purchase! The webiste offers:
  • Create Your Lifestyle Profile - Take our quick lifestyle quiz so we can get to know you better.
  • Receive Personalized Outfits - Each month, you'll find new outfits hand-selected just for you and your workouts.
  • Shop! - Buy the outfits you love or skip the month altogether. There's never any obligation to buy.
Again, this was another site that would not allow me to select Canada as a shipping address option!  Grr!  I've also sent an email to their Contact Us address and am awaiting their reply. Has anyone ever ordered from them before?  What are the clothes like?  Any Canadians manage to get their hands on any goods from this site?

All of that being said, there are great American companies that ship very willingly to Canada. Glyder Apparel (work-sweat-play.com) and Yogasmoga (http://www.yogasmoga.com) will happily deliver to Canadian customers - rather quickly too (within one to two weeks).

I do buy Canadian whenever I can, but I do like to try out companies that I hear about on the street, on TV, in magazines as well from time to time.

I'd love to hear from anyone who may have a solution or if anyone else in Canada has had any luck with this sort of thing.  I'll keep you posted if I hear back from these companies as well!

Cheers!

ATTENTION!!!! FAKE LULULEMON OUTLET SITE!!!!!

Attention all Lululemon fans!  In the past few weeks, two friends have mentioned a Lululemon Outlet site to me that is selling Lulu gear for up to 50% off!  I've heard of and have seen this site before.  It is totally fake!!!  Here is the website:

http://www.lululemon-outlet.co/

Some of the things you will see on this site are tempting!

After having this site passed on to me again tonight, I had to make sure that people realized it is a fake!  I did live-chat with an Educator from the http://www.lululemon.com site to be sure. The Educator assured me that I was right to be suspicious.  They only sell items on their www.lululemon.com site.  So I guess the message is that when something looks too good to be true, it usually is!

Buyer beware!!

Happy Saturday ;-)

Hmmmm...Interesting! Lululemon Is Banning Customers Who Try To Resell Their Clothing Online

Check out this article!

http://www.businessinsider.com/lululemons-resell-policy-bans-customers-2014-2

Ummm, I don't know about all of you, but I think that once you purchase an item, it is yours and you can do whatever you like with it.   That being said, it is pretty gross when you go on ebay and look at some of the markups on Lululemon items - especially the hard to find ones, like Gratitude Wraps and Method Wraps for example.  I've found Gratitude Wraps going for twice what they were worth at the point of sale!  Today I checked out the Method Wrap and found one on there for $385!  I paid $118 when I bought the same one a few years ago.  That is crazy! This does feel like those who are purchasing these items from such sites are getting taken advantage of, however, don't they have the right to spend their money any way they wish?  All that being said, when you purchase items second hand, the company who makes them really has no duty to you as a customer, right?  Lululemon has responded that they are attempting to keep people away from counterfeit merchandise.  Well, that's great and all but when someone purchases something from anywhere other than the direct company store, isn't that their risk? Buyer beware and all?

Just my thoughts but if I buy a high end BBQ and then decide next year that I no longer want it and go online and sell it for an inflated price, and someone buys it, that's the business of myself and the person who purchases it, right?  Now, don't get me wrong, I am not endorsing those who sell Lululemon items at an inflated price.  I'm not!  It's wrong in my opinion!  I just don't know how right it is for Lululemon to interfere? Perhaps if they had a less stringent return policy they would see less of this and more people would simply return their items and purchase something more suitable directly from the company.  I find it troubling that they have gone after IP addresses of people who are selling new items online and no longer allowing them to shop on their site!  This is a little crazy, no?  What about those of us who purchase and item, wear it a few times, lose some weight and no longer can use that item - are we not allowed to sell it at a reduced price to someone who does fit into said item?

What do you all think?  I am interested to hear your opinions!

Cheers!

Wunder Unders: The Many Materials and Trials of a Beloved Favorite

Lululemon Wunder Under Crops have been a long time favorite product of mine, like many many of you out there.  Almost everywhere you go you see ladies wearing these crops everyday.  You see them at the gym, on the street as runners pass, at the yoga studio.  You also see them at the mall, at the grocery store and yes, even at work in some cases!  You see them on ladies who dress them up with high boots, stylish long tunics, chunky jewelry and designer handbags.  You see them on younger ladies paired with UGG boots, chunky cable-knit infinity scarves and long cardigan sweaters; hair in messy ponytails and Iphones in hand.  Yes, the WU Crop has served us well as a multipurpose wardrobe go to for the yoga studio and beyond.

WUs came originally two ways:  Reversible and not reversible.  The difference in price was minimal as the regular non-reversible pair sold for $72 and the reversible sold for $82.  The prices still remain today.  Reversible pairs offered the option to wear either the side with a colorful waistband and the rest of the crop in a solid color, usually black or you can turn them inside out and wear them in full black (or a solid color, usually black, sometimes grey was an option as well).  The Lululemon logo is stamped on both sides of reversible gear as well.

Back in the early days of WUs, they were made of a material exclusive to Lululemon called Luon.  The website states the following about the material:

The following info can be found here on the Lululemon website: http://www.lululemon.com/education/info/luon/

Luon®

Luon is our signature technical fabric designed to handle serious stretch and sweat. We love Luon and we use it a lot – tanks, tops, pants, jackets, you name it. Every member of the Luon family has these performance qualities:
  • sweat-wicking
  • four-way stretch
  • cottony soft
  • breathable
  • designed not to shrink
  • Luon®
  • Luon fabric is breathable and cottony soft – we love this high-performance fabric for its serious stretch and recovery in all our sweaty pursuits.
This material was amazing.  There simply was nothing like it out there.  Soft as butter, the compressive material hugged your curves and made your butt and legs look incredibly smooth. Part of what we all love about WUs is the wide waistband that holds your tummy tight, it doesn't slip or move and does not create the dreaded muffin top!  This material held up wash after wash after wash.  It remained soft and kept it shape and fit, just as the product info on the site said it should.  For years, we were lucky enough to enjoy this exceptionally high quality material as we happily wore our Wunder Under Crops everywhere!

The Spring of 2013 brought some quality issues for Lululemon.  For some reason, the material that pants were now being made of just weren't the same.  They looked the same on the hanger.  They felt thinner to the touch and when you put them on and bent over to tie your shoe, they were sheer.  When this began to happen, ladies were attempting to return their crops and pants in droves to stores and to the GECs online.  At first there were told that they must have purchased the wrong size.  Size up they said.  Nope.  Not the problem.

Eventually the company came out and admitted that there were some quality issues with a batch of their black bottoms and there was a recall.  Loads of pants and crops were pulled from shelves and from the online stores.  After this happened, people were welcomed to bring back bottoms that they had purchased while this 'bad batch' was in stores.  Some found it easier to make these returns while many others endured educators telling them that they were 'purchasing the wrong size', or 'those crops were designed for running not yoga so they may be sheer if you bend over, that's just not what they were designed for'.  *Pause for dramatic effect* Sigh!

It was from this Luon debacle that many of us began to panic.  Well, panic is a strong word when you are talking about yoga crops, I know, but any addict knows what I am talking about. We'd had 'the best stuff' and now were we going to have to settle for the lesser?  Oh the humanity.....sigh!  LOL  Sorry, I got swept away.  Enough of the drama!  So what did we all do next?  Well, many of us, myself included, decided to try another type of Lululemon crop made of another material while we waited for our beloved Luon to return to the shelves.  I tried the Run Inspire Crops made of Luxtreme.  Run Inspire Crops are cute.  Luxtreme is quite a different material than Luon though.  It is much more of a technical material and these crops are designed for running and are functional enough to wear at the gym for sure.  They don't really work double time in your every day wardrobe, but for those of us who purchase workout wear first and foremost to, ahem, workout in, we were ok with the short term switch.

Uh-oh!  Ladies quickly found that the Luxtreme material, which most of the running crops were made of, was also sheer!!!  Actually, my experience was that the Luxtreme material was even more sheer than the Luon when I tested it out!  EEK!

The following info can be found here on the Lululemon website:  http://www.lululemon.com/education/info/luxtreme/

Luxtreme™

Every member of the Luxtreme family has these qualities:
  • sweat-wicking
  • four-way stretch
  • serious support
  • cool, smooth feel
  • low-friction performance
  • breathable
  • designed not to shrink

Luxtreme™

A lightweight version of our Power Luxtreme fabric – Luxtreme feels cool and comfortable, keeping us moving in our hottest workouts
As a result of all of this bad press, bad material and broken hearts of Lululemonheads everywhere, Lululemon began to produce Luon and Luxtreme crops and pants again later in year.
Ladies quickly got themselves to a store or awaited their online packages to arrive in the mail and then they held their breathe and bent over in front of husbands, honest family members and friends, store educator staff and mirrors....and sighed in disappointment.
Lululemon heard the response of the many and claimed that they had checked the quality of the materials and that they were following the same original recipe for Luon.  A company CEO was let go during this time.  They were watching stringently for quality issues with their product and that they adamantly stood behind their pants.  The only problem was that we could still see though them!
After a few more months of complaints from customers, differing opinions about sizes and fit, and a ridiculous tv interview comment made by Chip Wilson (founder of Lululemon) about women's thighs and yoga pants, they came out with something new called Full-On Luon.

The following info can be found here on the Lululemon website: http://www.lululemon.com/education/info/luon/

Full-On Luon®

A tight-knit version of our Luon fabric, Full-On Luon is a high-performance fabric that gives incredible support and coverage with a cottony-soft feel (seriously, it's like wearing a hug while you move).
Wunder Under Crops and Groove Pants were now being sold in this new material online and in stores.  This time I made my way to a local store that carries a few Lululemon items.  I purchased two items there made of Full-On Luon and then ordered another online.  Here's what I got:

1.  Groove Pants, Slim Leg, reversible, black
These were very thick and opaque!  They definitely passed the bend over test!  I bought them in my regular size 6 and they fit true to size (tts).  The material is soft but definitely is not the same material as the Luon of the past.  This is the closest they have come in years and I am very happy with these pants for sure!

2.  Practice Daily Crops, Indigo.
These were very soft.  The indigo color was beautiful!  The design was fun!  I was in love with these crops.  That is, until I tried them on.  I ordered them in my usual size 6 but the waist was huge on them!  At first I just thought, ok, I'll order a size 4!  No problem!  Then I did the bend test in front of my mirror.  O-M-G!  Not only could I see my underwear through the pants, but I could almost read the size tag through the material!  They were that sheer!  Sadly they were returned as quickly as they arrived!

3.  Wunder Under Crops, Reversible, Black/Winter 2013.
These were a cross between the Full-On Luon feel of the Groove Pants that I bought and the sheer Luon of the spring.  Put them together and you get a slightly less opaque version of the Wunder Under Crops.  These are definitely ok to wear in down dog, but you can slightly see the outline of your underwear.  I usually wear either a black or nude color under them.  Definitely wearable.  They are compressive and fit tts in my regular 6.  The material is a little stiffer and sort of feels like there may be a higher polyester count in them than in Luon of the past maybe.

Another material that Lululemon brought in during this time was called Power Luxtreme.  Wow! Wunder Under Crops have been through a lot in a year!  I bought a pair of these crops too of course!

The following info can be found here on the Lululemon website:  http://www.lululemon.com/education/info/luxtreme/

Power Luxtreme™

Power Luxtreme fabric is cool to the touch and fits like a second skin – we love this technical fabric for its support and smooth, low-friction performance.

Interlock Power Luxtreme™

Two layers of Luxtreme knit into one powerful fabric, Interlock Power Luxtreme offers great support and coverage with a cool, smooth feel. It forms to your body so much it’s like it was made just for you.

Full-On Luxtreme

Two layers of Luxtreme™ knit into one powerful fabric - Full-On Luxtreme fabric offers great support and coverage with a cool, smooth feel.  Full-On Luxtreme fabric is sweat-wicking, four-way stretch and breathable

As you will notice on this tag, it says the material is IPLUX (Interlock Power Luxtreme). This is what my WUs were made of.  The next thing we knew, the website read Power Luxtreme.  I noticed just today that it now reads Full-On Luxtreme!

Call it what you like as long as it does the job if you ask me!  My experience was that these were tts and they sit slightly lower on the waist than traditional WUs.  These crops are very lightweight and stay in place nicely when running, jumping, squatting, downward-dogging, etc.  These crops were nice and compressive and they passed the bend over test with flying colors!  They have a glossy-sheen finish since they are made of Luxtreme so I won't be wearing them as part of my wardrobe outside the gym but they are definitely a go-to item when I run, do bootcamp classes or go to yoga for sure!

I've tested a number of items in the growing world of athletic wear, both the expensive and the more economical varieties.  My conclusion so far is that no other crops compare to the Lululemon Wunder Under Crops of the past.  A few come very close.  Those that come close to the WUs of years gone by are certainly rivals for the current state of the WUs being produced, that's for sure.  I will continue to try these crops out as Lululemon continues to fiddle with their materials.  Whatever I don't feel live up to the very high standard that Lululemon set years ago will inevitably go back to the store!  My hope is that the company finally listens to the diehard fans who keep telling them to go back to basics and the bring back some of their more basic designs and materials, especially the originally Luon Wunder Under Crop!

Cheers!
Jamie

PS - I'd love to hear what some of you readers think about all of these quality issues and any other opinions you may have about this product or any others that you have come across along your fitwear journey!

More Bad Press for Lululemon!

I've been offline for only a few days (sick, not fun!) and as I return I see this article titled:

Lululemon 'Inadvertently' Sold A Bunch Of Sheer Pants Again

Read morehttp://www.businessinsider.com/lululemon-just-sold-sheer-pants-again-2014-1#ixzz2s7m3Ym8j

This article talks of how Lululemon has sold some of their old "sheer" stock from last year's recall online during the Online Canadian Warehouse Sale.  Wow!  I managed to get a few items from the sale but any bottoms that were posted on the site went during the early hours of the morning (meaning way before 5:30 am EST when I saw the sale) and so I didn't manage to snag any bottoms on sale.  Apparently, the retailer dropped prices for some crops as low as $39 which is like baiting a hook for the many circling fish in the sea of Lululemonheads!  Now, I do not speak of ill of these people, as I am one of them of course, but I am only referring to the fact that those of us who are fans of the brand, true fans, are waiting for crazy prices like this to happen!  We wait and we click the items into our carts as quickly as possible.  Most of us are so excited to see a low price on an item that we want that is in OUR SIZE!  What else would we do but load up those virtual shopping carts and whip out our credit cards (ok, I'll be honest, most of us no longer have to even look at our cards do we???) and press submit order?

What Lululemon didn't advertise along side their low low prices, was that some of these great deals were on pants that no one wanted last year!  Pants that have ladies everywhere trying on workout gear and doing the 'bend test' in front of mirrors in dressing rooms/bedrooms, in front of husbands, best friends (the honest ones only) and store clerks alike to hear those magical words, "Not sheer at all!"  Pants that have us all a little wary to try a downward dog in a new pair of yoga crops when at one time, we'd take off the tags, run to a class and not have a second thought that our pants weren't concealing our underwear, hang tags on the inside of the pants, and for those who go commando, our lady bits!  Ahhh, I remember that time fondly when we didn't have to think about these things.

So, what happens now if you have received some of these old stock sheer pants from the warehouse sale?   All sale items are always clearly stated to be FINAL SALE ONLY.  Apparently, if you have a little sticker on the tags that reads, "things don't always go as planned" they can be returned for a refund.  So, apparently these were in stock and marked as pants that were not up to snuff in the quality department, and accidentally managed to get themselves on the online warehouse sale, and then shipped to customers.   On the one hand, most of us who have been affected by the sheer debacle are sceptical and wonder if they hoped that this would be the way to finally rid the warehouses of all of this old sheer stock?  The other hand, I think it is cool of them to accept those items back with a full refund as everyone knows that sale items are final sale and they could have stuck by that too.  I like to be an optimist so I hope that this was a nice gesture by a company who has certainly landed themselves in some hot water with their loyal customer base and hopefully this is a sign of more good choices to come on the part of Lululemon.

Anyone who has received any of these items with the tag that reads, "things don't always go as planned", you should look into a return with a GEC online.

Cheers!
Jamie
